We build your product for 10% of the development price

Submitted by Hai Nguyen on
The offer set as type on a navy ground: "We build your product for", then 10% very large in gold, then "of the development price", above the line that WeebPal leaves the other 90% with you to grow your business

You have a system in mind. The market is real and the potential is clear. You are ready to invest in building it.

The hard part is not the money. It is getting the thing built. Hire your own team and you need engineers who are good enough, free to start, and willing to commit to your company for years. Those three rarely show up together. Hire an agency and you get capacity, but they are measured on project revenue, not on whether your business works.

We have been that agency since 2012. WeebPal has delivered 100+ projects for clients worldwide, with a founder of twenty-five years in the field.

There is a third option worth thinking about. We ask for 10% of your budget and finish the system. The other 90% goes back into the project, and we take a minority stake. Our return then depends on your business, not your budget.

What this is

Say your system has a development price. Under this program you pay a tenth of it, and you get the same system. The other nine tenths we invest in the project rather than bill it, and that converts into a minority stake.

Three amounts get confused, so here they are separately.

  • What the system costs you. 10% of what it would cost on the market, paid against results you can see.
  • What we contribute, for a minority stake. The other 90%, invested in the project rather than billed.
  • What you contribute, for the majority. All the capital you put into the project, in any form.

The project gets a full team. Architecture, backend, frontend, mobile, QA, DevOps and AI. The same team that works on our enterprise projects.

That is what the 10% buys. The team does not just finish the system and hand it over. They built it, so they know it from the inside. And we hold part of it, so we still care how it does years from now.

We start from platforms we already have, not from a blank page. That is where the tooling and the judgement came from, and it is why these numbers are real.

A working prototype comes first, then a complete system ready for the business.

Save your money, save your time, multiply your opportunities. We own a part of your business.

How the share is calculated

By a formula, agreed before we start.

Our share is our contribution divided by the sum of our contribution, your contribution to the project, and the value of the idea and other qualifying contributions.

We aim to hold between 5% and 25%. Your own contribution has to be large enough to keep us in that range. The more you bring to the project, the smaller our share. And the happier we are. A tenth of something large is worth more to us than a quarter of something small.

Who this is for

Two situations fit.

  • You have an idea and you can see the market. You are ready to invest in building the business, and ready to invest in building the software that carries it.
  • Your own company needs the software. You are ready to invest in building it. The value it brings to your company can be measured, and that measured value is what the product earns.

From there we talk. This goes ahead when you are happy with what we can do, and we are happy with what you can do.

What each of us brings

You know the market. You know what the customers will pay for, and you can reach them. When a question comes up about the business, you have the answer. You are already investing in this business. With us you pay 10% of the development price, not the 100% another firm would charge for the same result.

We build the software. The other 90% we invest, and that is how we buy into the business. Our part covers the functionality the agreed development price pays for. You pay 10% of the price and we carry 100% of the responsibility. The code is yours with full source, along with your data and your brand. Our platforms stay ours, with a perpetual licence to you for this product even if we part ways.

The total investment covers everything beyond that. After the build we are shareholders together, and we fund what comes next in proportion to what we hold.

How to start

There is no application form. Write us a few lines about the product and where you are with it through the contact page, and we will ask the rest.

We take on about three projects a year. That is what we can carry and still be properly involved in each one. So talking is easy, and what comes after it we choose carefully. Every step below is a point where both of us decide whether to go on.

  1. You: Share your vision. Tell us the idea or the problem you are solving. One meeting is enough for both of us to see whether there is something here.
  2. WeebPal: Design and prototype. If the first conversation says it is worth it, we put the work in. Architecture, data model and interface wireframes, a working prototype, and the development price built from that scope. Free, and before any payment.
  3. Both of us: Agree the terms. If the direction feels right and the price holds up, we settle scope and milestones. Then a term sheet with the development price, what each side puts in, and the share that follows. You pay the first 5% to start.
  4. WeebPal: Build and iterate. We build in two-week cycles on your real data. The whole agreed scope, not a trimmed-down version of it.
  5. You: Follow and feedback. You see working software at the end of every cycle and tell us what to change. That feedback is what keeps the dates real.
  6. WeebPal: Deploy and launch. QA, performance testing and production deployment. A complete system ready for the business. You pay the second 5% on delivery.
  7. You: Run the business. The system is live and it is yours to run. Selling, operating and growing the business is the part only you can do.
  8. WeebPal: Follow and support. Warranty for one year, up to three. We own part of this too, so keeping it working is our own interest. New features and scaling beyond that we fund together, in proportion to what each of us holds.

Who decides the price

The development price sets everything else. It decides what 10% is, what we contribute, and the share that follows. So it cannot be a number we simply announce.

We estimate it at step 2, together with the design and the prototype. We write the scope down and build the price from it, line by line.

You see exactly where the number comes from, and then you check it. You can ask another firm for a comparable quote, or hand our estimate to an AI and let it argue against us. Either one takes an afternoon rather than a month.

If your checks say the number is fair, we build it together. If not, the conversation was still good for both of us. We close it here, and maybe open it again on another project someday.

Hai Nguyen, WeebPal Founder & President, is the person you will work with.

We would be glad to build something with you. Write to [email protected], message (+84) 938 893 995 on WhatsApp, or find us at in/nguyenngochai on LinkedIn.

Three projects a year. Tell us what you are building and where you are with it. We will say early and plainly whether this is the right arrangement, and if it is not, which one is. Start with a conversation →

Note. This page describes a partnership program. It is not an offer to contract, a commitment to fund, or a solicitation of investment. The percentages illustrate how the model works. The development budget, ownership, vesting and buyback terms of any engagement are fixed in its own agreement.

Free websites and web applications for non-profits

Submitted by Hai Nguyen on
The offer set as type on a warm sand ground: "Free websites and web apps for non-profits" in dark brown, an outlined heart between two thin rules, and the line naming the organisations it is for

WeebPal runs a programme that builds websites and web applications, free of charge, for non-profit organisations working with children, pregnant women, older people and people with disabilities.

1. What we would like to do

Building for the web is what we know how to do. There are people doing work we could not do ourselves, and we would like some of our hours to go there.

So if your organisation needs a site or a system, we would be glad to build it, and the build costs you nothing. We take on one project every two months, which is what we can look after properly alongside the paid work. Write whenever suits you, and if the next slot is taken we will tell you when it opens.

2. What your organisation might need

The part the public sees. A site that says what you do and how to reach you, in one language or several. News and campaign pages. A donation page. A calendar of activities. A library of guides and forms to download. A page for each service and where it runs. Content that works with a screen reader and at large text sizes, and so on.

The part that runs the work. Registration and intake forms, with a waiting list. Records for the people you support. Appointment and session booking, for antenatal visits, therapy, check-ups or classes. Attendance for a day centre, a class or a home visit. Visit logs for outreach workers, working offline on a phone. Volunteer rosters and shifts. Membership and family records. Distribution of equipment and supplies, such as wheelchairs, hearing aids or milk. Referrals to and from other organisations. Donor records and receipts. Reminders by SMS or email. Reports for your funders, etc.

If it runs in a browser, we can probably build it.

3. What we cover, and what stays with you

We cover. Analysis, design, engineering, testing, deployment, documentation, training, and bug fixes and security patches with no end date, for as long as WeebPal is in business.

Stays with you. Hosting, domains and certificates, any commercial licences, the services the site calls, and the content. These are bought in your organisation's name. Nothing runs through us and nothing is added on top.

Before we start, we will put a figure on those running costs, so you can see the whole picture rather than find it out later. They are usually small, and we choose the technical route that keeps them that way.

4. Who we hope to hear from

It fits best when a few things are already true.

  • Work that is not run for profit, where nobody is charged for what it delivers.
  • Work mainly for children, pregnant women, older people or people with disabilities.
  • An organisation that can sign and stand behind the data. An informal group can be sponsored by one.
  • Someone who will look after the site afterwards.

If you are not sure whether you fit, write anyway and we will work it out together.

There is little we would turn down. We stay out of political campaigning and religious outreach, and out of anything where a mistake could harm someone's body, such as diagnosis or dosage. The records, scheduling and reporting around that kind of work we are glad to build.

5. What you get

The same team that works on our paid projects: architecture, backend, frontend, QA, DevOps and AI. We start from platforms we already have.

Accessibility as standard, to WCAG 2.2 level AA, tested with real screen readers and on old phones. For many of the people you serve, that decides whether the site works at all.

We develop on anonymised copies of your data, and no photographs or names of the people you serve appear in anything we publish.

At handover, the running site, the full source code, documentation and training, and a perpetual free licence to the platform underneath. Nothing is locked in.

6. How to start

There is no form. Write a few lines about what you need and who it is for, and we will ask the rest ourselves.

  • Your first message. We reply as soon as we see it, usually the same day, either way.
  • An hour together to agree what a first version should cover.
  • A written proposal and a working prototype for that first version.
  • An hour to go through it, and both sides decide.
  • The build itself, with a demo every two weeks.

The one thing we ask of you is time. About four hours a week from someone who can decide, and the first round of content. If this is not the season for it, write when it is.

Hai Nguyen, WeebPal Founder & President, is the person you will work with. Write to [email protected], message (+84) 938 893 995 on WhatsApp, or find us at weebpal.com.

The build is free, and the site is yours from the day it is handed over.

Note. This page describes a service programme. It is not an offer to contract and not a funding commitment. Scope, schedule, support and your rights over the source code are set in the agreement for each project.

WeebPal's Web Development Process for Direct Business Owners

WeebPal's Web Development Process for Direct Business Owners

At WeebPal, our approach to web development for direct business owners is both methodical and personalized. We believe that a well-defined process not only ensures a successful project outcome but also fosters a meaningful relationship with our clients. Here's an insight into our step-by-step web development process:

1. Requirement Analysis

a. Collaborative Idea Sharing & Consultation: Every successful project begins with understanding. We aim to grasp the nuances of your business by organizing dedicated sessions where you can freely discuss your vision, goals, and challenges. This consultative approach fosters trust and ensures that we lay a solid foundation for the project.

b. Detailed Mindmapping, Breakdown, & Discussion: Post consultation, our team engages in in-depth mindmapping sessions. This involves creating visual diagrams to represent tasks, ideas, and hierarchy. By visualizing the website's components and functionalities, we can foresee potential challenges, prioritize features, and ensure that all parties share a unified vision.

c. Preliminary Wireframing Session: Wireframes are the blueprints of web development. We craft basic, yet detailed, visual representations of the proposed website. This not only solidifies the site's structure but also aids in visualizing the user journey, ensuring an intuitive and user-friendly design.

2. Estimation & Agreement

a. Detailed Task Breakdown & Cost Estimation: Clarity and transparency drive our process. By providing a detailed breakdown of tasks alongside associated costs, we ensure that you remain informed and can make budget-informed decisions.

b. Approval of the Estimate: Every cost element is justified, and your approval ensures that we are aligned in terms of scope, budget, and timelines. This pivotal step reduces future discrepancies and sets the project on a definitive path.

c. Project Agreement Finalization & Signing: A detailed agreement is crafted, encompassing all project specifics. By sealing our mutual understanding with a formal contract, we pave the way for a smooth development phase.

3. Graphic Design Phase

(Note: Leveraging predefined themes, such as those from ThemeForest, can optimize this phase significantly.)

a. Design Prototyping & Feedback Collection: Visual aesthetics matter. Using state-of-the-art design tools, our designers bring the earlier wireframes to life. This prototype serves as a semi-functional model, facilitating a clearer understanding of the end product. Every feedback loop at this stage is crucial, ensuring design elements resonate with your brand's ethos.

b. Comprehensive Design Creation: Building on the prototype and integrating feedback, our team dives into creating a full-fledged design. This encompasses every minute detail, from button placements to color palettes, ensuring the website is not just functional but visually appealing.

c. Final Design Approval: We pride ourselves on collaboration. The final design is showcased for your review and is subject to revisions until it mirrors perfection and aligns with your vision.

4. Agile Development

a. Development in Sprints: The Agile methodology promotes adaptability and efficiency. By breaking the development into manageable sprints, we ensure that each segment of the website is meticulously crafted, tested, and refined before moving on.

b. Demonstrations After Each Sprint: Progress is showcased at the end of every sprint. These regular check-ins allow you to be involved in the development actively, providing insights, raising concerns, or simply appreciating the progress.

c. Feedback Collection Post-Demo: Feedback doesn't just drive design; it's integral to development too. Any feedback received post-demo is incorporated in the subsequent sprint, ensuring continuous refinement.

5. Deployment & Support

a. System Delivery: Once the development is successfully concluded and the website undergoes stringent quality checks, it's prepared for deployment. This entails configuring the site for live servers, ensuring optimal performance and security.

b. Warranty of 1 Year, Extendable up to 3 Years: We vouch for the quality of our deliverables. Our warranty (one year as standard, extendable up to three) stands as a testament to our commitment, guaranteeing post-deployment support to rectify unforeseen issues.

c. Ongoing Maintenance: The digital world is dynamic, with technological advances emerging daily. Our ongoing maintenance service ensures your website stays updated, functional, and secure, safeguarding your digital presence.

At WeebPal, we recognize the importance of your online presence. Through our structured and collaborative approach, we aim to create web solutions that amplify your brand, captivate your audience, and catalyze your business growth.
